What is Holistic Counselling?

The basic theory behind Holistic Counselling is that a person achieves wellbeing, happiness, and fulfilment through addressing MIND, BODY, SPIRIT, and EMOTION in all areas of life, i.e. health, family, friendship, love, finances, leisure, career, creativity and community. When one or more aspects are out of balance, a person tends to be prone to physical illness, mental dis-ease due to unhappiness and disconnection, and experiences recurring failure or personal disasters.  In addition, even the areas of life that are good can be affected negatively by the not-so-good areas.

The differences between conventional counselling and Holistic Counselling:

  • Conventional counselling most often looks at mental attitudes and their relationship with behaviour while Holistic Counselling considers the WHOLE PERSON.
  • Conventional counselling tends to let a client release their grievances while Holistic Counselling uses practical assessments and targeted questionnaires to bring clarity to a client’s perceived problems while also allowing their heart to be heard.
  • Holistic Counselling is client-centred, where it helps the client meet their own needs as an individual, instead of forcing them into a predesigned model for physical and mental health.
  • While it is sometimes necessary to understand the root cause of problems which conventional counselling usually does, Holistic Counselling helps a client understand where they were in the past, where they are now and where they want to be in their life. In order to move forward.

Conventional Counselling and Holistic Counselling each has their own place and resonates with different people, circumstances, and intentions. Think of a Holistic Counsellor also as a coach who guides you and walks beside you as you make the changes you desire while keeping you accountable.

What is Reiki Healing?

Reiki is an ancient healing modality that originated in Japan in the 19th century. Through the “laying of of hands,” a Reiki healer channels the UNIVERSAL LIFE FORCE ENERGY (which in Japanese is called, Rei-Ki) to comfort or relieve pain from a human or animal body.

Every living being radiates warmth and energy, the life force or “Ki” itself. In China, this is known as “Chi” and, in India, this is known as “Prana.” When this life force is depleted or blocked, the most obvious sign is physical dis-ease showing up. Receiving a Reiki Healing then helps a client’s energy centres, known as chakras, to become unblocked and spin healthily again.

Why combine Holistic Counselling and Reiki Healing?

Reiki, being a form of Energy Healing, considers a person as an energy being. Our life force or energy is what powers everything that we do, think and be in our life. A person’s physical, mental and emotional state naturally affects a person’s energy centres, also known as chakras, so the Reiki healing gives a natural boost in order for a client to make the necessary changes to achieve the life they desire. 

After a Holistic Counselling session, a client will have become aware of what they may be doing or what they believe subconsciously that’s causing their problems in life. With this awareness, the Reiki healing becomes more powerful in supporting the transformation.

Energy follows intention.

What will a session look like?

Each Holistic Healing session runs for at least 1.5 hours. The amount of time spent between Holistic Counselling and Reiki healing depends on your needs. The first few sessions may involve about 45 to 60 mins of Holistic Counselling and the rest of the time for Reiki healing.

Your very first session involves getting a clear understanding of where you’re at and what you’d like to achieve. This includes participating in assessments that clearly gauge your stress level and your self-image. You’ll be taught and given practical and natural tools you can easily do at home to start getting your life back on track.

In your successive session/s, you’ll have the chance to review what worked and what didn’t work with your healer, and then start building or continue to build your life plan with the help of your counsellor/healer.

The Reiki healing is done either lying down on a massage table or seated on a chair fully clothed, whichever is comfortable for you. Your healer will place her hands on various areas of your body, where you give consent to be touched, to channel Reiki. There will be no laying on of hands on your genitals. You may feel warmth or tingling as she does this or you may not feel anything at all. Whatever it may be, Reiki will go where healing is needed.

How will you feel after a session?

You may feel invigorated after your session to move towards a life of wellness, balance, joy and fulfilment, after having been given new tools to support your intention and knowing that you’re not doing this alone.

A Reiki healing almost always gives you a sense of deep calmness and peace, feeling very grounded in your body and contained in your energy (as opposed to feeling scattered).

How many sessions will you need?

Change happens over time and healing doesn’t stop when the session ends. Continuing to receive support is key if you really want to have lasting change in yourself and your life. This also helps keep you accountable and focused.

This session is best done after 2 weeks from your previous one for focused support. You’ll also receive a FREE support call from me a week after a session.

After your first session if you feel it has been very beneficial to you and you’d like to continue to receive support from your healer, you’re recommended to commit to a minimum of 5 sessions (FOR THE PRICE OF 4 if paid upfront) paced over 3-6 months, depending on what you’re working towards.
