Emotions, if not healthily expressed, will dig themselves some big holes (or icebergs as per in below photo) into your psyche and your body.
Too often, the real reason behind an angry outburst, for example, is deeper than the situation that triggered it.
If you bury it within yourself, it will show up in some shape or form as a dis-ease in your body.
Trying to manage it with your chosen addiction will only make it worse.
If you let it pester, it can start to negatively affect your relationships, career or finances.
Because what’s happening is you’re letting the effects of the unpleasant emotion run your life instead of understanding what’s beneath it.
I know, its hard to unearth the truth when you’re in the grips of anger, resentment, shame, guilt or any other feeling that makes you contract and hate the world.
Here are 3 steps to release negative emotions:
Step 1: Physically
Shake it all off! Shake your legs, shake your feet, shake your hands, shake your arms, shake your shoulders, shake your hips, shake your neck, shake your head. And with a physical gesture, throw all that stress or negative energy or negative feeling away with your hands.
Step 2: Mental and Emotionally
I find that the Serenity Prayer is really good. It helps change your mindset.

𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒅𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆.
Keep on repeating until it sinks in.
Step 3: Energetically
Breathe out all the energy that you took on from or put on you by places, people and things. Breathe in and call back all the energy you gave to places, people and things.
Keep repeating for as long as you need it.
These 3 steps to release negative emotions is here to support you to move towards that space where clarity can come up. Just because you’ve shaken off, prayed and breathed doesn’t mean that what caused the negative emotion has gone away.
Your negative emotions serve as truth messengers. They’re gifts even if an unwelcome one.
